On yer bike!
The days of ‘Get your motor running, head out on the highway’ are over. Well for a week at least. As next week marks National Bike Week and people up and down the country are encouraged to chose pedal power over petrol.
Events begin with the world famous London to Brighton bike race this weekend. Started in 1980 this is more than a bike ride, as it has attracted over 650,000 cyclists and raised over £35 million for charity, making it the biggest bike ride in Europe.
It is now too late to gain entry to the London to Brighton but you can get involved in many other events that have the noble aim of getting people out of their cars and on to bikes. Check out the Sustrans website: www.sustrans.org that have details of ‘National liftshare Day’, cycling events in your area and their ambition to make the 2012 Olympics the Greenest ever!
So get that bike out and get cycling!
