World Cup Warning

June 15, 2006 at 9:26 am · Filed under Answer English Blog · Posted by James

Tonight England take on Trinidad & Tobago.  Following a pretty average display against Paraguay, England will be hoping to put in a great performance against the West Indians.  With so many of their players playing in the Premiership or First Divsion this has the hallmarks of an FA Cup tie with the underdogs Trinidad & Tobago looking to put one over the superstars of England.

Having been out in Germany myself, and experienced it first hand, this appears to be one of the best World Cup’s ever.  So far there has been no trouble whatsoever between the fans and long may that continue.  However unfortunately in life there are always those that want to wreck it for others.  Warning to all England fans looking to pick up tickets on the black market touts are selling fake tickets.  So you need to be cautious before throwing your money away.  We saw some of these ourselves in Frankfurt but fortunately John, in our group, spotted the hallmarks instantly.

For a guide to identify what is a ticket and what isn’t go to the BBC’s website, click here.  The game tonight starts at 5:00pm and is Live on ITV1.  Wherever you are watching the game, enjoy it.  Best of luck Becks & Co. and Come on England!

Learning in the fast lane

June 15, 2006 at 9:00 am · Filed under Answer English Blog, Learning English · Posted by James

Are you geared up for Learning English in the fast lane?  News has come in from Antonia Corp from Malvern House to announce the launch of their new ‘Accelerated Learning’ courses.

This has been launched in response to the growing market of elite students who want intensive focused teaching customised to their language needs for short periods.  Malvern feel that this can only be done in smaller classes with a key element being some one to one tution and a personal tutor to monitor your progress.  For Malvern the ALFA class (Accelerated Learning for Adults) is quite a break from the larger class sizes they offer to some 5000 students every year.

Running just in July and August, the ALFA course consists of 20 hours per week of tuition in classes of up to 8 students.  The classes will be taught in new classrooms kitted out with the most modern teaching facilities available.  Each student will be given his/her own performance review for each week by their tutor.

And on top of this there will be weekly support programs of free lectures and social activities, a free London Welcome Course to enable them to know and enjoy the capital and each student will get full support from Malvern’s back-up staff.

The price is £590 for two weeks and the first course starts on Monday 3rd July.  Accommodation is not included in the price.  If you are interested in more information send me an e-mail: james@answerenglish.com or call me on +44 20 7402 8651.
