Tonight England take on Sweden in the third and final group game. Already guaranteed a place in the second round, England need only draw tonight to finish in first place.
England have not looked their best in the tournament and come up against some determined opposition. Sweden have a great record against the English. If England were to win tonight this would be the first time they have beaten Sweden since 1968.
However in Wayne Rooney England have a man that can turn back history and drive his team on to victory. Rooney is set to return to the starting in line up to complete a remarkable comeback from injury. It is amazing to think that only weeks ago he lay on the Stamford Bridge pitch with a broken metatarsal! Come on Rooney and Come on England!!!
If you are looking for somewhere to watch the match, we will be at Doggett’s Pub on Blackfriars Bridge at a ZRSDP event. £20 gives you free entry, table service, a free drink and the profits go to charity. Call me on 07946 534 814 if you want to get one of the few tickets left.

There may not be Glastonbury this year, but there is the Hyde Park 02 Wireless festival. Music fans are gearing up for next weeks line up that includes headliners The Strokes, David Gray, Massive Attack, James Blunt and Depeche Mode.
Wireless begins on Wednesday, June 21 and carries on till Sunday. It’s impressive to see how this festival has grown, having been launched only last year. Two extra stages have been added, sponsored by indie staion Xfm and myspace.com.
Other delights include Belle & Sebastian, Flaming Lips, Beth Orton, Zero 7, Goldfrapp, Super Furry Animals and the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Mixing British Indie acts with American rock superstars this will be the best festival to come to London this summer. Don’t miss out.

Pomp and circumstance, fanfare and stiff upperlips. These will all be on display tomorrow at the Trooping the Colour. This event happens every year in the middle of June to mark the Queen’s Birthday.
This year will be extra special as the nation celebrates the Queen’s 80th. As usual there will be the military parade and march-past by Household Troops on Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall. But to make this year more special, the Queen and other members of the Royal family will gather together on the Buckingham Palace balcony to view a special flypast from the RAF with the Red Arrows.
After the flypast there will be a ‘Fey de Joie’ (Fire of Joy) where members of the Old Guard and the New Guard will fire blanks in the air. Interspersed will be bars from the National Anthem. This is the first time in the whole of her Majesty’s reign to receive a Feu de Joie.
If you are hoping to see the Trooping the Colour the best place to watch the processions are from Horse Guards Parade. The event begins at 11:00am tomorrow Saturday 17 June.

Tonight England take on Trinidad & Tobago. Following a pretty average display against Paraguay, England will be hoping to put in a great performance against the West Indians. With so many of their players playing in the Premiership or First Divsion this has the hallmarks of an FA Cup tie with the underdogs Trinidad & Tobago looking to put one over the superstars of England.
Having been out in Germany myself, and experienced it first hand, this appears to be one of the best World Cup’s ever. So far there has been no trouble whatsoever between the fans and long may that continue. However unfortunately in life there are always those that want to wreck it for others. Warning to all England fans looking to pick up tickets on the black market touts are selling fake tickets. So you need to be cautious before throwing your money away. We saw some of these ourselves in Frankfurt but fortunately John, in our group, spotted the hallmarks instantly.
For a guide to identify what is a ticket and what isn’t go to the BBC’s website, click here. The game tonight starts at 5:00pm and is Live on ITV1. Wherever you are watching the game, enjoy it. Best of luck Becks & Co. and Come on England!

Are you geared up for Learning English in the fast lane? News has come in from Antonia Corp from Malvern House to announce the launch of their new ‘Accelerated Learning’ courses.
This has been launched in response to the growing market of elite students who want intensive focused teaching customised to their language needs for short periods. Malvern feel that this can only be done in smaller classes with a key element being some one to one tution and a personal tutor to monitor your progress. For Malvern the ALFA class (Accelerated Learning for Adults) is quite a break from the larger class sizes they offer to some 5000 students every year.
Running just in July and August, the ALFA course consists of 20 hours per week of tuition in classes of up to 8 students. The classes will be taught in new classrooms kitted out with the most modern teaching facilities available. Each student will be given his/her own performance review for each week by their tutor.
And on top of this there will be weekly support programs of free lectures and social activities, a free London Welcome Course to enable them to know and enjoy the capital and each student will get full support from Malvern’s back-up staff.
The price is £590 for two weeks and the first course starts on Monday 3rd July. Accommodation is not included in the price. If you are interested in more information send me an e-mail: james@answerenglish.com or call me on +44 20 7402 8651.

The days of ‘Get your motor running, head out on the highway’ are over. Well for a week at least. As next week marks National Bike Week and people up and down the country are encouraged to chose pedal power over petrol.
Events begin with the world famous London to Brighton bike race this weekend. Started in 1980 this is more than a bike ride, as it has attracted over 650,000 cyclists and raised over £35 million for charity, making it the biggest bike ride in Europe.
It is now too late to gain entry to the London to Brighton but you can get involved in many other events that have the noble aim of getting people out of their cars and on to bikes. Check out the Sustrans website: www.sustrans.org that have details of ‘National liftshare Day’, cycling events in your area and their ambition to make the 2012 Olympics the Greenest ever!
So get that bike out and get cycling!

England expected… and England delivered with a one nil victory over the Paraguayans but it was far from convincing. In the hot cauldron of Frankfurt Sven’s Men pitted themselves against the plucky South Americans but after a positive start they faded. By the end the England fans were relieved to take the 3 points and look forward to the West Indian side Trinidad & Tobago.

For me and my mates John, Andy, Dave, Paul & Oli, it was great to be there in Frankfurt to lap up the atmosphere. The Germans made very good hosts and there was a carnival atmosphere throughout the city. They said that they wanted to make this the best World Cup ever and certainly if they carry on like this the Germans may well achieve that.

Tomorrow morning when you wake up will hearald a new dawn. As tomorrow the World Cup begins, history will be made and England will reign supreme. England have the team to beat anyone in the World and they are going to bring the trophy home to where it belongs. Football is coming home!
You probably don’t share my view, think mine is based on fallacy and over-optimism. You probably think your own country is going to win and you may well be right. Well let us see… Whatever happens, England is a great place to watch a World Cup as the whole country switches off and every pub and home is filled with people glued to their televisions as this football feast unfurls!
Answer English will not be in the office tomorrow as we are off to Germany ourselves to see the first England game in Frankfurt v. Paraguay. I will let you know how we got on, on Monday, when I’m back. I will also bring you updates as the competition progresses. If you want to watch a game with Answer English why not come and see the England v. Sweden game on June 20th at Doggett’s pub. For more details click here.
