This was our biggest and best Spanish – English night ever. However, I will admit we were a little apprehensive when we arrived, and were told that there was going to be a live band playing. Now I like a live band like the next man, but I don’t need thrash punk metal when I’ve invited half of London down for our Spanish night. Fortunately the music turned out to be South American and only added to the evening and the atmosphere was electric as 36 Spanish speakers convened at The Exchange.
Montse, a charming Valencian young lady, was joining us for the first time, even chose to celebrate her birthday with us! Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves practising their languages, meeting people and making friends. There were calls from some people to have one every week! We’ll certainly be organising another Spanish – English LLE, the next one is coming up in 3 weeks on the 21 February. To book your ticket e-mail James: info@answerenglish.com
The only minus point of the evening was that we weren’t able to have our weekly quiz. But don’t worry we still have the fabulous prizes given to us by Punto y Coma magazine, Don Quijote and Gazelle Publications. So we will keep it for another night. Thank you to all our partners that contributed to our goody bags: Punto y Coma, Don Quijote, Malvern House, Spanish Express, the Instituto Cervantes, Cuban Connection, Gazelle Publications and Hot English Magazine.
It was great to see so many new faces and lots of returning students. I look forward to seeing you all again on the 21st February. For photos from the evening go to Past Events.

Ciao Bonjourno! Yes on Tuesday we had our inaugural Italian – English Language Learning Evening. The night was a great success with over 20 people attending. We had hired the basement bar of Nelsons Bar and Restaurant near Regent’s Park and seated everyone on tables of four or five. Half the night was spent talking in Italian and the other half in English. And after an hour we moved everyone around so they got a chance to meet different people.
The reaction was really positive and many people said they would come again, which is always pleasing to hear. This was a great opportunity for English people learning Italian to practise their language skills and for Italians based in London to meet some English people. To round the evening off we had our quiz with 6 questions in Italian and 6 in English. This time there was no need for a tie breaker as we had two clear winners: Sofia from Italy and Nicoletta from London. Congratulations to you both!
Thanks to our partners who without their help wouldn’t make these Language Experience Experiences what they are. Our appreciation goes out to Nelson Bar & Restaurant for hosting the evening, Malvern House, the Italian Cultural Institute, Hot English Magazine and Gazelle for their support, generosity in filling up our goodie bags, and providing prizes for the evening. A special mention must go to Gavin and Dani that lent me their cameras – after I managed to leave mine in the office. Cheers guys. To see more of the photos from the night go to Past Events.
And last but by no means least, thanks to all those that came. We hope that you enjoyed yourselves and join us again at the next Italian – English LLE. If you are interested in coming on the 28 February, go to our Social Events page for more information.
