10 Things you need to know about our Summer School in Central London

May 20, 2007 at 11:30 am · Filed under Answer English Blog, Learning English · Posted by James

1. Academic Focus: The school is in the academic and cultural heart of London and is in the same street as University College London and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and is only 30 seconds away from the British Museum.

2. Famous Places: The following famous places are all within easy walking distance: Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square and the West End.

3. Location, location, location: In fact, everything you need: theatres, cinemas, pubs, restaurants, shops, libraries, museums, galleries are all very near. This makes it the ideal location for a visitor to London.

4. Facilities: The elegant building, dating back to 1776, is modern and comfortable inside and has recently been painted and decorated. Students benefit from the facilities which include: internet cafe and wi-fi, a relaxation area for break times, a book and DVD library and a pretty garden.

5. Learning Environment: The eight classrooms are all very bright and spacious with up-to-date equipment. Two of the classrooms are designated “conversation areas” and have sofas and beanbags instead of traditional furniture. In fact, everything is designed to make learning easier.

6. Home away from Home: The school also feels like a home - this is because the directors, husband and wife, Stuart and Greta, and all the staff do everything they can to make their students feel part of the family. Read Stuart’s Blog

7. Educational Team: The dedicated team of teachers led by Director of Studies Rob, will improve your confidence at communicating in English. Whether you come for two weeks or stay all summer, you will notice a significant boost to your English ability.

8. Symbols of Quality: The school is accredited by the British Council, is a member of English UK and Tandem. The school is regularly checked for its academic standards and welfare of students and passes with flying colours.

9. Award Winning: In 2006 the school won an ELTON – the British Council’s equivalent to an Oscar for Innovation. This was for their hugely popular English Cultural Experience course.

10. They care!: Every student is treated individually. The school is not a large school, you certainly will not be treated as a number. Small is beautiful: each classroom has a maximum of 12 students (14 at the height of the summer), so you won’t get lost!
