Unique opportunity – Escape for a weekend to Santander, Spain!!!

April 29, 2008 at 9:49 am · Filed under Answer English Blog · Posted by James

Are you learning Spanish?
Do you want to improve your Spanish, discover rural life in Spain and meet new people?
Then this trip should be exactly right for you!!!

Book up a weekend trip to Santander either from 16 May to 18 May or from 20 June to 22 June!

Please find some more details below:

‘Heinz baked beans to meet cocido montanes’

This is the plan guys. We are launching our first 2 in a series of weekend trips to Santander, Spain.
The first one is 16-18 of May with 5 places available and the second is a special treat: La noche de San Juan/summer solstice, 20-22 of June with only 4 places available.
The basic idea is pretty easy to imagine; get away for a weekend, submerge in the Spanish language in a rural part of Spain. Here comes the special part: it’s hosted by a group of young, curious, laid-back Spaniards, willing to disclose and take us to their secret beaches, feed us in the best restaurants, organize a fiesta and spend the entire weekend just hanging out with us in the Spanish ‘what’s-the-rush-for’ style! The accommodation is with Pili – the grandmother of the village in her rural house with several rooms. (we all know, the best person to spoil us to bits is a grandmother!)

Already loving the idea?

The logistics:
We catch the Ryanair flight to Santander on Friday pm, get picked up from the airport, dump our stuff and and the treats begin: home cooked dinner, fiesta, boat trips, walks, parrillada by the river with music, more food to die for and of course lots of spanish ramble! (the spaniards don’t understand the word ’shut-up’:). On Sunday evening we get dropped off back to Santander airport. The estimated cost to cover only the expenditure would be €150 per head + flights, it’s a no profit initiative! Because of the ‘friends-amigos’ style of the trip and the physical logistics, we have to keep the numbers down to 10 people only so put your name down NOW as it’s first come, first served basis.

Do sign up if you find the above idea appealing, still have a soul left somewhere and willing to be enriched by other souls and their beautiful land.
Do not sign up if you are after running around with a stop-watch ticking off touristic sites, have a fiesta-phobia or looking to get hammered for the whole weekend.  I guarantee you won’t find this kind of hospitality in any tourist office not even in your own family! Send me an email with ‘yes + chosen dates’ in the subject line ASAP.

Any questions call me on the number below.

hasta pronto chicos

NOTICIAS NUEVAS: BECAS del MEC

April 23, 2008 at 11:56 pm · Filed under Answer English Blog, Learning English · Posted by James

HAS OIDO LAS NOTICIAS?

James took part this weekend in the London marathon. He was one of 35,000 participants, and was running to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The photo below is him in action around 7 miles in when there was a downpour. He managed to beat a Borat impersonator complete with a Mankini, the Massai Warriors and a Banana. However he did lose to a 102 year-old man - he clearly knows his place in life! Here is a photo of him in action:
