Accommodation Options: Non Homestay

August 21, 2008 at 3:36 pm · Filed under Answer English Blog, London Life · Posted by James

“But I don’t want to stay with a family!” We hear this all the time from our students. We fully understand that some people don’t want to stay with a British family whilst studying in London. We still believe that for learning English the immersion that a family gives you makes it a great option for practising English. But we also respect that some people just DON’T want to stay with a family. (Maybe we are biased being British!)

If you are choosing a course and accommodation package and don’t want to go in a family you should consider these school’s non-homestay options:

London – Central

Student Houses are located in Zones 2 and 3. Usually in North or West London. Average journey times to Central London will be approximately 40 to 50 minutes by public transport. We have one superior student house that is located in Zone 1, which is within walking distance of the school. If you book a room in a student house you will receive a confirmation confirming the exact location of the accommodation, including an area map.

Zone: 2 or 3 (plus one ‘superior’ in Zone 1)
Room options: Individual or twin
Bathroom: Only shared bathroom
Meal options: Self-catering
Minimum stay: 1 Week
Availability: All year round
Check-in: Any day of the week, typically Sat - Sat or Sun – Sun

Price: £160 per person for an individual or £125 per week for a twin

There is a £45 London – Central accommodation fee.

London – Camden

Shared flats are ideal for students that wish to live with other students from London - Camden and have their own independence. They are located just a few minutes’ walking distance from school, and are for students of 18 years and over. You will be responsible for making your own breakfast and dinner. You must always respect the rules of the flat but you can feel free to come and go as you please. These flats are well furnished with a desk where you can study, desk lamp, TV-video, kitchen cutlery & crockery, microwave, iron and ironing board; free Wi-Fi broadband Internet access is provided (although not guaranteed). The kitchen, toilet and bathroom are cleaned weekly.

Zone: 2
Room options: Individual or twin
Bathroom: Only shared bathroom
Meal options: Self-catering
Minimum stay: 1 Week
Availability: All year round
Check-in: Any day of the week, typically Sat - Sat or Sun – Sun

Price: £165 per person for an individual or £140 per week for a twin

There is a £40 London – Camden accommodation fee.

Please read the International Student Policy in order to establish the full terms of the cover, which is available through the link at the bottom of the page.

NB It is advisable to take out your student insurance at the time of booking your trip as cover will commence for pre-departure cancellation from the policy issue date.
