World Record Holder aims to make more history in aid of Alzheimers
Next week record breaker Charlie Taylor has got a little pre-Christmas holiday planned. Instead of getting some autumn sun in Dubai or Christmas shopping in New York, Charlie is going to be setting off from St Bees in Cumbria in the frosty late-November dawn and running across the mountains of the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire. His only company is his friend Ollie Brodrick-Ward.
Charlie says “we are planning on covering the 192 miles in under four days, carrying only what we need and stopping en route for the bare minimum of rest. Who knows? It could take under three days if we get good weather - whatever happens, we will do it as fast as we can. It’s going to be fun.” At least that’s what Charlie has told the kind people at the Alzheimer’s Society, which is the charity for which he is raising money through the run.
Alzheimer’s is a tragic condition which causes a sickening mental decline in sufferers and one of the saddest ends of all, experienced through a mind riven by the frustration and torment of constant and overwhelming confusion. The Alzheimer’s Society desperately needs funding for research and treatment to improve the lives of those affected.
