St Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2010 at 12:41 pm · Filed under Answer English Blog · Posted by admin

Hello,

My name is Inie and i will be updating the blog from time to time. Today is St Patrick’s day. A yearly celebration of Ireland and it’s culture. Traditionally people tend to wear green or a shamrock on their clothes to celebrate the day.

In London there will be a parade featuring floats, pipers and costumed dancers at Wilsden Green. Across the world there will be parade, festivals and plenty of Guiness.

St Patricks Day

Don’t forget that our schools in Dublin will be celebrating as well.

Pub Quiz

October 11, 2009 at 5:31 pm · Filed under Answer English Blog · Posted by James

You will be delighted to know that we will be holding the annual ZRSDP pub quiz on Thursday 22nd of October. For those of you who haven’t been along to one of our events before ZRSDP stands for the Zimbabwe Rural Schools Development Programme. As you may have guessed from our title we raise money to build much needed classroom blocks and kit them out.

We are revisiting The Counting House which was a great venue for last year’s quiz.

Details are:
*       The Counting House - 50 Cornhill EC3V 3PD (nearest tube - Bank/Monument)
*       How to get there: Beer in the Evening
*       Thursday 22nd October - 6.30pm onwards (quiz to start at 7pm).
*       £5 each to enter. Max team size is six.
*       Traditional prizes: Champagne and wine for the top teams - CD singles and other booby prizes for the latterly placed teams.

We need to keep a track of numbers so please let me know if you can make it. Feel free to organise and bring a team and forward on to friends who you think might be interested. Find out more about the charity at www.zrsdp.org

Captain Birdseye finishes half marathon fully baked

September 27, 2009 at 5:40 pm · Filed under Answer English Blog, London Life · Posted by James

Captain Birdseye, aka James Herbertson - our Managing Director, finished the Run to the Beat half marathon in under two hours, despite sweltering conditions.  Competing for the first time in this competition, James had to put up with blazing sunshine and 25 degrees temparatures.  Dressed with sailors cap and beard, James did his best impression of Captain Birdseye - the popular marketing character of Fish Fingers - to raise money for the RNLI.

If you would like to sponsor James please go to RNLI Sponorship.   TheRoyal National Lifeboat Institute is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland.  RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 100 beaches in the UK in peak season and assisted almost 10,000 people last year.  They are not supported by the government and 85% of the money raised goes into operations.  To help James raisee £350 go to RNLI Sponorship.

All happening in Newcastle

September 25, 2009 at 9:55 am · Filed under Answer English Blog · Posted by James

Our English school in Newcastle has just signed a 30 year lease on new premises at Gallowgate in the heart of Newcastle city centre.

They are moving into new much larger and more attractive premises just around the corner.   Close to their student apartments at Charlotte House, I am sure that students will enjoy the new premises.  I personally was shown around by Trevor, the school’s Managing Director, back in March when work was ‘in progress’.

Between now and December this year the whole team will be working very hard to refurbish and refit the new school with excellent classrooms, welfare and administration facilities.

We await with anticipation the Grand Opening in January 2010!  Hopefully Answer English will be invited to the opening ceremony!  If you are interested in being one of the first to enjoy classes in the new building, enjoying 2009 prices: Contact Us
