Did you know?
Even if Ireland is a relatively small country, it has made a huge contribution to world literature. This is thanks to the important Irish poets who have a long and complex history. The Irish language is one of the oldest. Literature and poetry traditions exist from the 6th century to the present day. In particular, many world famous Irish writers, poets and playwrights were born in Dublin or made Dublin their home. These include Seamus Heaney, Jonathan Swift, WB Yeats and James Joyce whose world famous “Ulysses” is set in Dublin. For these reasons, among the many different things that you can do in Dublin, is the choice to find out about famous Irish poets and writers by taking a literary tour of the city.
Lunchtime: When class finishes at 13.00 the group may take their lunch in the school common room or go to St Stephen’s Green, which is a beautiful park just three minutes walk from the school. The school has snack facilities, which allows the students to purchase light food and drinks.
After-class entertainment: The school has a common room where students can watch videos, have coffee and socialize before and after class.
Dublin – Leeson Street organises an interesting and varied programme of activities in the
afternoons. A typical weekly schedule would consist of two outings to places such as Malahide
Castle and Dublinia, which is an exhibition on Mediaeval Dublin, or an outing to participate in
bowling, swimming or basketball.
Each group has different preferences so their programme is discussed and then worked out in advance to suit the needs of that particular group. Every afternoon there is a popular video shown in the student room, which gives students the opportunity to socialise and mix with other nationalities. At certain times during the summer, the school organizes a party for the students with music, food and drink. These events are very popular and are very well organised and supervised by the school staff.
Shopping is also a favourite and all the major shopping areas are a 5-minute walk from the school.
